In a major breakthrough for thyroid and breast cancer care, Huashan Hospital of Fudan University successfully completed Shanghai's first single-port robotic breast cancer mastectomy with immediate reconstruction and the city’s first robotic thyroidectomy using the SHURUI^® system.

Led by Prof. Qiang Zou and Prof. Yiting Jin, the surgical team utilized SHURUI^®'s flexible snake-like instruments and 3D imaging to perform both complex procedures through a single hidden incision—preserving aesthetics while ensuring oncologic precision. For the breast case, gland removal and reconstruction were completed without visible scarring. In the thyroid case, a subclavicular approach avoided neck incisions altogether.

With over 40 years of experience in breast and endocrine surgery, Huashan Hospital’s innovation reflects a shift toward ultra-minimally invasive, patient-centered solutions.
