Listening to the General Secretary's Directives: Shurui Achieves "Leapfrog Development" in High-End Surgical Robotics through Chinese Originality

As the spring tide brings a new beginning, it is the time to forge ahead. On February 9, during his first local inspection tour in the opening year of the 15th Five-Year Plan, General Secretary Xi Jinping visited the National Information Technology Application Innovation Park in Beijing E-Town. He focused on information technology application innovation and the construction of an international scientific and technological innovation center, pointing the way for China's self-reliance and strength in science and technology. The General Secretary emphasized: "We must fully leverage the advantage of our socialist system in pooling resources for major undertakings, gather all kinds of high-quality elements for joint research, accelerate the resolution of prominent 'bottleneck' problems, and achieve our strategic goals."  During this inspection, Professor Xu Kai, founder of Beijing Surgerii Robotics Co., Ltd., acting as a representative of domestic surgical robot enterprises, had the honor of listening to the General Secretary's teachings and instructions on site. He witnessed this inspiring moment, which also carries the mission and responsibility of technology enterprises in the new era.

"It is a great honor to represent domestic surgical robotics enterprises and listen to the General Secretary's teachings and instructions on site at the National Information Technology Application Innovation Park," said Professor Xu Kai, his words filled with excitement and determination.

The General Secretary gave clear instructions to target "chokehold" problems, persist in independent and original research, and build China's industries to be stronger and larger. This is not only a directive but also the original aspiration and direction that Shurui® has cultivated for years. In the cutting-edge "single-port" field of surgical robotics, Shurui® has been a pioneer, overcoming difficulties, and taking the lead in breaking the paradigm where high-end medical equipment is controlled by others, allowing Chinese originality to emerge on the global stage. Relying on its robust capabilities in independent research and development, it achieved the breakthrough of being "the first to be approved for marketing in China," placing domestic single-port surgical robots ahead of imported products.

Technological innovation wins solely through quality. The core reason Shurui® has been able to achieve leapfrog development lies in its relentless pursuit of core technologies and its firm commitment to full-chain independent research and development. In the field of single-port surgical robotics, Shurui® utilizes internationally pioneering snake-like arms technology to create core products with a wide range of motion, strong payload capacity, and high reliability, seizing the initiative in global competition through this unique advantage.

To date, Shurui® has mastered seven major categories of full-chain key technologies, accumulating 310 Chinese patents and 145 overseas patents, with global patent applications exceeding 800. By building a solid technological foundation with patent barriers, it demonstrates the confidence and strength of Chinese intelligent manufacturing. Even more proudly, in August 2025, the Shurui® single-port surgical robot successfully obtained EU CE certification, covering all surgical applications in thoracic surgery, general surgery, urology, gynecology, and pediatrics in one go. This achievement not only surpasses the most advanced similar products in the United States but also makes Shurui® the only single-port surgical robot to achieve

CE certification and be approved for pediatric use, becoming the first Chinese surgical robot approved for use across all populations in the EU!

The value of technology lies in clinical implementation and benefiting patients. Today, the Shurui® single-port surgical robot has entered over 70 top hospitals globally, including those in Beijing, Shanghai, Barcelona, Munich, and Rome, for clinical exploration and application. From the most complex radical pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic cancer to surgeries on the youngest patient at only 7 days old; from pioneering nearly 50 globally innovative surgical procedures to filling over 80 procedural gaps in Asia and China, Shurui® has used its disruptive technological power to achieve medical breakthroughs characterized by "smaller trauma and broader coverage".

"The General Secretary's high regard for independent innovation makes me feel incredibly inspired and deeply aware of my heavy responsibilities," stated Professor Xu Kai. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Shurui® will continue to bear in mind the General Secretary's directives, hold fast to its original aspiration of independent innovation, promote its global strategic layout with Chinese original intelligent manufacturing, and contribute Chinese wisdom to the common health cause of humanity. Looking ahead, Shurui® will take this honor as an opportunity to stay true to its original aspiration, forge ahead courageously, and make greater contributions to building a scientific, technological, and healthy powerhouse for China!
