Central China’s First Single-Port Robotic Gastrectomy Completed with SHURUI® System

In a regional first, Xiaogan Central Hospital successfully performed a laparoscopic distal gastrectomy for gastric cancer using the SHURUI® single-port robotic system. Led by Dr. Huang Weijiang, the surgical team treated a 60-year-old patient with a 4.5 cm gastric lesion located in the lower third of the stomach. The case was complicated by a prior abdominal surgery and severe adhesions.

Through a single 3.5 cm umbilical incision, the SHURUI® system’s snake-like instruments enabled precise lymph node dissection and reconstruction with minimal blood loss. The operation was completed in just under 2 hours, and the patient recovered smoothly, ambulating within a day.

This marks a milestone in minimally invasive oncology surgery in central China and highlights SHURUI®’s ability to deliver precision, reduced trauma, and faster recovery, even in complex scenarios. It demonstrates how Chinese robotic innovation is advancing the frontiers of ultra-minimally invasive cancer treatment.

Important Notes

The SHURUI Single-port Endoscopic Surgical System (SR-ENS-600), developed and produced by Beijing Surgerii Robotics Company Limited, has obtained the CE marking for urologic laparoscopic surgical procedures, gynecologic laparoscopic surgical procedures, general laparoscopic surgical procedures, and thoracoscopic surgical procedures. It is intended for use by trained surgeons in an operating room environment in accordance with the representative, specific procedures set forth in the User Manual.
