At the inaugural Yangtze River Delta AI & Healthcare Innovation Conference, Suzhou First Affiliated Hospital and Surgerii Robotics were honored for their pioneering work in robotic thoracic surgery using China’s first single-port robotic system, SHURUI^®.

The team has completed complex procedures—including lobectomy, segmentectomy, and bronchial sleeve resections—with 100% success, zero conversions, and outstanding outcomes. Notably, in April 2025, Prof. Jun Zhao’s team completed the world’s first cross-continental robotic lobectomy using the SHURUI^® system and 5G connectivity—linking China and Romania in a real-time operation with <80ms delay.

Experts at the event praised the team’s technical leadership, noting it as a breakthrough for China’s high-end surgical technology. Looking ahead, the hospital will expand robotic research into esophageal and mediastinal surgeries, advancing AI-integrated, ultra-minimally invasive care across the region.
